But it’s not just a party for a party’s sake – officially it’s a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, timed to mark the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition. The event consistently raises eight-figure sums, with last year’s edition raising a record $13.5 million.
