It was a controversial and drama filled event at Pukekohe for Round 2 of the D1NZ National Drifting Championship. Teams up and down pit-lane faced tough local council enforcement on the 95db noise restrictions. Kiwi Ingenuity and late night fabrication after practice day saw teams return to the track with new muffler inventions to avoid being removed from the track and sent home.
Mad Mike Whiddett, Fresh with confidence after winning Round 1 at Manfeild was sporting a truck stack out the rear to try muffle the quad rotor beast fans across the world have come to love - disappointing for the punters but also a huge threat to Mad Mike's championship, with the 'Mad Bull' RX7 well down on power due to the exhaust changes it was an uphill battle to try tackle the infamous Pukekohe sweeper, the worlds fastest drift corner.
