Here’s how to eat pasta like a true Italian.

Apparently, you’re not supposed to use a spoon when twirling your pasta in Italy.
Unless you’re a kid, or eating soup, you should never twirl your pasta with a spoon — as it’ll make you look like an amateur in Italy. Italians also eat almost all if their pasta on a plate — not in bowls.
Another faux pas in Italy is piling on the grated cheese — if the pasta sauce includes any type of seafood, you shouldn’t add cheese. And if your dish already has cheese on it, don’t ask for more, as many think this will mask the flavor of the dish.
In many parts of Italy, pasta will be served as the starting course of a meal and salad will be served after. Cured meats and vegetables can come before the pasta, but you should save room for the main non-pasta course which is usually a meat dish.
You also can’t just put any sauce on your noodles — light sauces usually accompany longer noodles, like spaghetti and linguini, because chunkier sauces will just fall off. There’s also not “alfredo” sauces as we know it in the states available. In Italy, the alfredo sauce is considered a dressing because it’s made with the pasta at the same time of cooking.
