Gun Shot Residue test

On June 2nd, Police Officers and civilian employees with the Fayetteville Police Department volunteered to test a kit that can detect gun shot residue left on the hands and clothing of an individual after a gun has been fired. Forensic Technicians currently send evidence collected at the scene to the state to be tested for gun shot residue. These tests can sometimes take months for results to come back. This new field test is not a replacement for tests preformed in the lab, but has the potential to assist investigators by giving them an extra tool to use during their investigation.
