Knitting Tutorial: Converting Wrap and turn Short Rows to German Short Rows - How Placement Differs

In this video i discuss how to convert Wrap and Turn Short Rows to German Short Rows, focusing on the placement.

With Wrap and Turn, when arriving at the turn, a stitch gets moved and then moved back.

With German Short Rows, the work is turned and a stitch is moved from the right needle to the left needle so the double stitch (and the gap) is placed one sitch off as compared to Wrap and Turn.

To compensate, when making a German short row, go ONE STITCH FURTHER than you would do for Wrap and Turn.

e.g. If a pattern said
(RS)Knit to 3 sts from the end, wrap and turn
(WS)Purl to the end
(RS) Knit to 3sts from the wrapped stitch
(WS)Purl to the end

This would convert to
(RS)Knit to 2 sts from the end, turn work
(WS)Create double stitch, Purl to the end
(RS) Knit to 2 sts from the double stitch
(WS)Create double stitch, Purl to the end
