Love them or hate them the AMC Gremlin today is highly sought after if you can find one. Check out this 1976 one owner low mileage example featuring the $300 optional "X" appearance/equipment trim package that included body side tape stripes, body color front fascia, slotted road wheels with D70x14 Goodyear Polyglas tires, blackout grille insert and bucket seats. Produced from '70 to '78 the not-so-little compact was originally offered by AMC in a standard version 199 cu in 3.3 L I6, or a 232 ci for $1,879 with the 304 ci V8 option setting you back $2,200.
Only 826 customers were able to score a Gremlin X before the option was suspended mid-model year. Due to flagging sales, the 304 cu in 5.0 L V8 engine option was cancelled at midyear, after only 826 installations. A total of 40,994 Gremlins were equipped with the V8 engine from 1972 until 1976.
