This is one of several covers, arrangements and original pieces I've written for Mega Man: The Sequel Wars, a remake/remix of the last 3 NES Mega Man games for the Sega Genesis. Pharaoh Man's EX stage (release date pending!) flips the original level's theme on its head: instead of dropping into a mechanized tomb from an expansive desert, Act 1 starts with Mega Man already inside before progressing to the pyramid's exterior in Act 2. As such, the only logical choice for the track was to invert the verse's melody to reflect the player's shifted direction (not a perfect inversion, mind you—musicality trumps theory geekery any day of the week) and extend the 5→1 walkup from the original intro to a full 8-note scale. Although I decided on this particular path mere weeks into my 'position' as an arranger for the game, it wouldn't be until early 2023 where—like an archaeologist excavating a long-forgotten ruin—I would dredge up these ideas for anything beyond simple sketches. Besides those two bases, the rest of the piece draws inspiration from the Mega Man Zero games along with Archj's remix of the original theme from FamiTracker's demo songs, while Walk Like an Egyptian (what else?) was sampled and heavily processed for the snare sample.
