Hi,

Parachute problem is a well-known problem in numerical analysis. The parachute problem involver a first-order ordinary differential equation. In this video, I try to show the basic of the problem and formulate step by step.

At first, the problem simplified for static solution. The gravitational force and air resistance force are only considered. The goal of the problem here is finding terminal velocity of the falling body. The Newton second law of motion was applied and accelaration was converted the differential form of velocity in the formula. Also, the net force was placed as gravitational force minus air drag resistance.

At this point, velocity was derived as differential form and it should be solved. First, some arrangment on the equation was made. Then, variables distributed to both side of equation and integrated. Integral constant was found by known beginning condition that is at first the velocity is zero when time is equal to zero. Thus, integral constant wirtten into the equation.

Finally we compared our solution with text book formula.

Dear friends, I plan to shoot videos about numerical analysis espacially application about some methods such as graphical solution, bisection method, false position method, and Newton Raphson method etc.

If you have any question please comment.

See you another videos.
