About  Birmingham itself:

Birmingham is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands, England. It is the second-largest city, urban area and metropolitan area in England and the United Kingdom, with roughly 1.1 million inhabitants within the city area, 2.9 million inhabitants within the urban area and 4.3 million inhabitants within the metropolitan area and lies within the most populated English district. Birmingham is commonly referred to as the second city of the United Kingdom.

Located in the West Midlands county and region in England, approximately 100 miles (160 km) from Central London, Birmingham, as one of the United Kingdom's major cities, is considered to be the social, cultural, financial, and commercial centre of both the East and West Midlands. Distinctively, Birmingham only has small rivers flowing through it, mainly the River Tame and its tributaries River Rea and River Cole – one of the closest main rivers is the Severn, approximately 20 miles (32 km) west of the city centre.

This city is quite old and it is mentioned for the first time yet in the “Book of the Doomsday” issued in 1086. The city becomes significantly popular in the 13th century because of its multiple fair-trades. Moreover, at that time one could buy high quality weapons there and there was constant high demand on that product.

In this city you can find all architectural styles that look very naturally together, making the city unforgettable and uniquely beautiful. The centre Birmingham is the location of the International Convention Center that is widely known and popular for its beauty and refined design. Moreover, here you can see many important political meetings. From time to time famous politicians from different countries of the world come to Birmingham to participate in international negotiations.

One more famous sight is the local town hall. It was built in 1830 and still keeps attracting people from all over the world by its beauty and classical Victorian style. Of course, there are many cultural and historical places of interest in Birmingham.

One of the most unusual urban attractions is the Museum of Cadbury World, which is dedicated to the favourite treat of all - chocolate. During the tour, visitors of the museum will be told about how in 1824 the Cadbury company was founded in Birmingham. It has since become one of the world's largest chocolate manufacturers. Initially, it had no relation to chocolate, the company was engaged in the supply of coffee and tea from India. Mandatory part of the tour is the tasting of the popular sweets, and there is also a great shop in the museum.
