Amaranth seeds are very small
Amaranth seeds are very small and tiny. You have to protect the seeds from birds when you sow them. Some times birds will eat all the seeds and you may wonder why you didn't get even one plant. Here in this video I have shown how to sow amaranth seeds and protect them from birds.
You do not need a big backyard for amaranth. You may even grow 4-5 plants in your pots. Amaranth is very easy to grow and doesn't need a lot of care. There are different species in amaranth and all are edible. It is very nutritious.

What you need
Amaranth seeds 1 tsp
sand or dry soil - 2 tsp ( I used rice flour in this video.)
plant pot
soil
a small net
rubber band
Procedure
Take amaranth seeds in a bowl and mix with sand or dry soil. Sprinkle the mixture on the soil inside the pot. Sprinkle a thin layer of soil on the top. Sprinkle some water. Now cover the plant pot with a net or a plastic sheet to protect from birds. Here I used an onion bag. Secure the net with a rubber band.
Put it outside and sprinkle water everyday. Follow the same procedure if you are sowing directly on the ground.
You will see the seeds are sprouting in 3-4 days and in about 10 days the plants will be growing. You may transplant them into the ground when they are 3-4 inches height. It is better to transplant on a rainy day. The day after rain is also a good time or plant them before it rains.
