Environmental Economics: Simple Cost/Benefit Analysis

Using a simple Principles of Economics graph, we discuss the "optimal" amount of pollution abatement based on costs and benefits. Lowering costs can increase abatement. Then, two firms with different abatement costs are shown to reduce pollution more efficiently if they are allowed to "trade" in the task rather than each do the same amount.
