Hi there friends!

Here's a video about PHRASAL VERBS! Very important for speaking and communication! This is my first proper video about phrasal verbs, and I thought I'd show you some that we use for the weekend! In this video I take you through a typical relaxing day in London (it took me back to the days when I lived there ahhhh :-)) and so hopefully you'll benefit from seeing these phrasal verbs in context! The definitions are below if you want to check the meanings :-)

Pour into ~ to flow or steam into some place or thing.
Spring out ~ to leap, dash, or jump out (of something or some place.)
Lie in ~ Sleep or lie in bed longer than usual.
Get up ~ rise from bed after sleeping.
Pick out ~ to choose something/someone from a number of alternatives.
Put on (meaning 1) ~ to place something on a part of your body.
Head out ~ depart or begin a journey.
Head down ~ Movement in a direction. We use it with road/path etc.
Get on ~ enter public transport.
Sit down ~ become in the sitting position.
Turn up ~ increase the volume or strength of sound, heat etc.
Look out ~ to look through something, e.g. a glass window.
Take in ~ to process and enjoy a view/your surroundings.
Chill out ~ relax
Get off ~ exit public transport
Have in/have out/take away ~ consume something in a restaurant/cafe or remove it from the premises to enjoy elsewhere.
Whip out ~ to take something out of your bag or your pocket fairly quickly.
Kick back ~ relax
Come out ~ appear or emerge (The Sun from behind the clouds!)
Lie down ~ to be/the process of being in the lying position.
Meet up ~ meet someone who you have previously arranged or planned to meet.
Open up ~ when a new cafe or restaurant or bar opens for business for the first time.
Try out ~ to try something for the first time.
Catch up ~ talk to someone who you haven't seen for some time in order to find out what they have been doing and how they have been.
Hang out ~ spend time with a friend.
Wander around ~ to go from place to place usually without plan or definite purpose.
Bump into ~ meet someone by chance.
Head home ~ go in the direction of your home.
Come across ~ to find something spontaneously. (Things not people!)
Pick up ~ collect or purchase something.
Eat in ~ to eat your evening meal at home. (Not in a restaurant/out)
Run out ~ to have nothing left of something.
Flip through ~ turn the pages of a book/magazine but not spend too long on each page.
To put (your feet) up ~ rest after a lot of walking.
Put on (meaning 2) ~ cause a device to operate.
Turn down ~ reduce the strength of the volume/heat of something.
Turn in ~ go to bed.
Turn off ~ stop the operate or flow of something by means of tap, switch, or button.
