The Wild Chickens of Kauai

The Hawaiian island of Kauai is home to thousands upon thousands of feral chickens. No matter where you go on the island, so long as you are within about a mile of people, you'll find these wild chickens. I didn't feed the chickens once, but they were all around me all the time -- at the beach, hiking, at the hotel, driving... everywhere. Tourists love to feed them and the locals don't seem to mind them, so the island is overrun with these guys. You would not believe how often you hear a rooster crowing/cock-a-doodle-doo'ing in the background, since it's basically non-stop. Can't say that the chickens really bothered me, though if you are eating they will run up to you and beg, but past that they tend to mind their own business.
