Note: The heat of vaporization is the amount of heat (Joules) required per gram to boil a liquid to gas. Its units are usually Joules per gram (J/g) or calories per gram (cal/g).

Q1.   In a sauna, 122 g of water is converted to steam at 100 °C. How many kilojoules of heat are needed?

Q2.   When steam from a pan of boiling water reaches a cool window, it condenses. How much heat, in kilojoules, is released when 25.0 g of steam condenses at 100 °C?

What you'll need:

Heat of vaporization of water: (1 g of H_2 O (l→g)=2260 J )

Conversion: 1 g of water = 1 mL of water = 1 cm^3
