Back in 1989, a man by the name of Jay Geertsen developed the game while he was learning about the HP-UX. Yes, the same HP (Hewlett-Packard) that makes our computers & laptops. He gave the source code to Nathen Meyers to port it to the MS-DOS, P.C.M. van der Arend for the Atari ST, Chris Christensen for the Macintosh, and John Rotenstein for Windows 3.x. I have uploaded footage from some of the ports. Then, in early 1990, Geertsen sold the rights to Sega, and has owned it ever since.

Now, witness what is considered to be the first ever footage of the rarest port of Columns. Btw, mind the gameplay, it's past midnight and I am very tired. The results of my hard work are worth it. The reason why it took so long to find it is due to my inexperience with Linux/Unix systems at the time. The computers HP-UX is on are very expensive and thank goodness I didn't go that route.

Gameplay footage recorded from my Linux Ubuntu 22.04 LTS via VirtualBox. The HP-UX was emulated from MAME.
