In the 1970s, a massive influx of artists from the Philippines into the American comics industry began. Spearheaded by Tony DeZuniga, DC Comics began a recruitment of Filipino artists that would include notable talents including Alfredo Alcala, Nestor Redondo, Alex Niño and many more. This episode goes into how they became involved with American comics, what they worked on, and the impact these artists had. From characters like Jonah Hex to Conan, Filipino artists have played an important role in comics from the U.S. and the so-called Filipino Invasion opened the doors for future generations of superstars like Whilce Portacio and Leinil Francis Yu.
