In this skit Beulah learns about a man named Nabal who was not generous even though he was very rich.  Because of his stinginess he ultimately didn’t get to enjoy the things that he had been blessed with.  She also learns that when we are generous then God blesses us, so we are able to practice even more generosity.

Memory Verse:
The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.  (Proverbs 22:9  NIV)

Lessons Taught:
• A man in the Bible named Nabal lived in Maon and had his business in Carmel and he was very rich  (1 Samuel 25:2)
• The name ‘Nabal’ means “fool” in Hebrew so it may have been his nickname  (1 Samuel 25:25)
• Nabal owned 3,000 sheep and 1,000 goats  (1 Samuel 25:2)

• David had 600 men who were hiding from King Saul with him
• Nabal insulted David and sent his men away empty-handed
• David and his men had protected Nabal’s sheep and shepherds from harm
• Abigail was Nabal’s beautiful wife
• When she heard that Nabal had sent the men away, she prepared supplies and brought them to David and his men
• She delivered meat, grain, wine, 200 loaves of bread, 200 cakes of figs and raisins
• When Abigail returned home, Nabal was feasting and drinking lots of wine and was drunk
• Abigail didn’t tell Nabal that she had given David supplies until the next morning
• When Nabal heard the news, he had a heart attack and died ten days later
• Abigail became David’s wife after Nabal died
• The Bible says that we shouldn’t let our left hand know what our right hand is doing when we give
• That means that we shouldn’t be showy when we give
• God gives us more resources when we are generous
• Jesus said it’s more blessed to give than to receive
• God is generous
