Loading a sea kayak onto a van

This is a very easy way to load most kinds of kayak.
This is a 26kg 17ft ruddered sea kayak kayak being loaded onto a mid height van. The approach works just as well on a car and avoids having to lift the whole weight of the kayak at any time. I have a light box section alloy bar with some padding on it permanently attached to my roof bars but a temporary bar of something like 2x2 timber could be strapped on or even a very tight roof rack strap will do, just something that will support the kayak without it resting on the vehicle roof at any time. Unloading is just a reverse of the loading strategy.
