In this documentary, our co-director Khan Rehan prepared this special documentary about the famous poet Emil Khan Baba of the 17th century.
Emil Khan Momand:
At the end of the 17th century, through Khushal Khan Khattak's poem, we are talking about the name of Emil Khan Momand. Until now, the name of this hero is mentioned in poetry and seminars, but no one has done proper research about him.
There are two types of information about Emil Khan's village and house. One is that he may have been from Nangarhar, and the other is that he was a believer of Bara. Both sources say that he was not of Kukuzi tribe.
"Emil Talab" and "Emil Chautra" in Bara were the center of his war plans. However, there are also writings about "Email Kot" in Momand Valley of Nangarhar, which some consider to be the sign of his residence and camp.
The year of Emil Khan's birth is not known, but he was the same age as Khushal Khan Khattak, who was born in 1613. But it is not necessary that Amil Khan was Khushal's brother, but because of his fighting skills, it was suggested that he might be Khushal's younger brother.
Emil Khan had two other brothers, one of whom was named "Bader Khan" and the other one was named "Fath Khan". A historical source says that Emil Khan was tied to the head of Mia Jan Muhammad of "Popin" village. It is not clear what happened to his elder brother Badr Khan and why he did not become the leader.
A writer says that it was difficult to get out of the "Kabul" river near Chakwarta, so in the middle of the 17th century, Emil Khan moved with his family to "Hazar Nao" on the Khyber highway. No one gives information about Chaknoor and Hazar Nao, which part of Nangarhar they are in and how this happened?
From the time of Akbar Bacha, both Kabul and Peshawar were administered by the Mughals as a province, which was "Kabul Province". Its ruler was the governor and he used to reside in Kabul in summer and Peshawar in winter. But his deputy will stay in Peshawar all year round.
In 1671, Aurangzeb replaced the Subadar of this region with Muhammad Amin and arrested the Nawab of the area, Muhammad Amir Khan. He went to Kabul in the first month of his tenure in the summer and then returned to Peshawar at the beginning of winter. Nawab Muhammad Amir was the son of Mir Jumla of Golkunde (Deccan) and was not a very trusted person of Aurangzeb. Khushal Khan, the leader of Khattaks in Abasin with Atak, told him every village.
During his stay in Jamrud, some Pashtun chieftains went to see him. Hussain Beg, Naib of Muhammad Amir, announced the death of these leaders in Persian, which the Pashtuns did not understand. A historical text says that Hussain Beg used these words, "Several dogs of the Nawab have come to greet him." But it is difficult to determine the fact that a Mughal officer would have used such words in the Khyber region that were clearly insulting.
The second incident was more dangerous. Some merchants of the Safi tribe were imprisoned in Bajaur, a military seat of the Mughals. At that time, they came to know that Hussain Beg had left one of the Safi women missing. The merchants killed the Mughal soldiers of Chachi that night and fled from there. This incident is also not confirmed by the history of the Mughals and it has not been mentioned anywhere else. Hussain Beg asked the Safis to hand over the killers and they refused.
In this area, the Mughals made a deal with some tribes in exchange for privileges that if the government army was attacked, they would defend the government army. According to the agreement Hussain Beg called on the tribes to help the government. The tribes could not violate this and attacked the Safis with the support of Hussain Beg.
In this war, he inflicted a lot of losses on the Safis, but the believers called this war an illegal act and sent a Jirga to him on behalf of Emil Khan. He told the Safis that whatever happens, Momand will not help the
