What is the first thing most people think of when they hear Gary Payton? Trash-talk. So it only seemed fitting to make one of these videos on The Glove. My personal favorite clip from this video is when Gary is talking trash to Ron Harper while they are taking part in “Nba Cares” charity work. You can take the animal out the jungle but can’t take the jungle out the animal.
Another one of my favorite Gary Payton moments is featured in this video as part of the Big 3 when he lays in Dahntay Jones. Anyone that has watched basketball for a while, and isn’t a Duke fan, more than likely knows how annoying Dahntay Jones can be. He reminds me a lot of Draymond Green but without anywhere near Green’s skills. Ironically enough, he’s the same guy that purposely ran into and bumped Draymond trying to intimidate him during 2015 while Green was being interviewed post game. As a result, he was fined $10,000. Basically, Dahntay Jones is a fake tough guy. That is what made Gary’s moment even more iconic when he verbally DESTROYED Dahntay during a Big 3 game and Payton was the coach. Jones didn’t want the smoke!
Anyway, this project had a very good feel to it. I definitely could see me making this into a series the same way I have with Jordan, Kobe, and Charles Barkely (all 3 who are featured in thei video btw).
