This is the easiest, fastest FREE method to create slideshows from static photos I've found in a long time. The open source video editor Shotcut has a small hidden tool that can create slideshows from photos in only a few clicks, with automated transitions.
Using the slideshow tool in Shotcut can create a slideshow in only a few seconds, by importing the images, reordering them on the playlist and then automatically placing them to the timeline, with a pre-defined slide duration, transition duration, random transition and more options to fill the screen with the image automatically.
The slideshow function works even if the images are different sizes and have variable aspect ratio. Shotcut offers options for specifying the zoom effect, to achieve a Ken Burns effect on the photos, and also make them fill the entire area of the screen.
In this video I also show you how to add music to your slideshow, how to trim the music track to the exact length of the slideshow and how to add a fade out to your audio track.
