Here is the transcript of this video:

"The automatic friction brake on Dutton-Lainson DLB-series brake winches makes pulling or lifting a load safe and simple.  When cranking stops, the load stops.

The trade-off for this safe and easy operation, however, is that you cannot simply pull line off the winch to attach it to your load like you can on a pulling winch.  Instead, you must crank a brake winch's handle to let cable or strap out, and it's a two-person job- one person must apply force on the line while someone else is cranking the handle. If you don't have weight attached to your winch, your handle will simply unthread from the drive shaft, and no line will be let out from the reel.

There is a solution, though- a DLB winch equipped with a freewheel lever.  Available on DLB brake winch models with 8, 12, 15, and 2500 lb weight capacities, the freewheel lever gives you the option of putting the winch in freewheel mode when needed.

When no load is attached to your winch, unthread the handle on the driveshaft, then lower the lever onto the drive shaft between the winch base and handle.  This prevents the handle from threading onto the drive shaft, and allows you to freely pull line from the winch without having to crank the handle.  Once you've attached the line to your load, just lift the lever off of the drive shaft, thread the handle back onto it, and then crank your load in or up as normal.

Have a DLB winch without a freewheel lever installed?  Don't worry- it's very easy to add one to your winch!  Click the card in the top middle of your screen to watch a video showing how.

A safe and easy-to-use brake winch with a flexible freewheel option- that's the Dutton-Lainson difference.
