As discussed in our community forum, Island Site 2 was originally part of the assets of Sahara CORP.
We have ample evidence to support this claim, partly from early promotional trailers and partly from artworks on Artstation.
These pieces of evidence strongly indicate that during the development phase, the production group intended to make Island Site 2 owned by Sahara CORP, which continues the setting of The Forest.
However, to expand the world view, this setting was scrapped in favor of Puffton CORP.
Initially in 2018 when the game was first constructed, players were supposed to play as Timmy arriving at Site 2 island, but this was later changed to the perspective of a search and rescue journalist.
If you can watch the trailer carefully, you should observe that the helicopter in the game's opening scene bears the logo of Sahara CORP.

Besides, the images sent are the same regarding 3D modelling and scenario authors. Various pieces of evidence indicate that the second-generation island was originally owned by Sahara CORP.
Someone replied to us saying that Sahara CORP did have a role in the second generation, but only in emails and on computer screens. It was simply changed to be like that later on, which I understand.
Regarding the aforementioned matters, I will create an hour-long video to explain why the production team made major revisions and why I request to change it back as much as possible.
Since they have made up their minds to achieve the current state and have purchased the 3D modelling of Timmy, I definitely know the hope of reverting is slim, but I still want to try. At the very least, the ownership of the island should be returned to Sahara.
Then, switching the struggle between Sahara and Puffton CORP to an internal fight within Sahara Corporation is not impossible.
