Balance of Performance, or BoP, is something that has risen to the fore in many forms of motorsport over the past decade, but nowhere is it arguably more present than in GT3 racing.
By tweaking things such as power, weight, aero and ride height – the aim for the organisers is to try and make sure each different car laps at the same speed. That way the field is close and in theory, the racing is exciting. In addition, it allows more cars to be created matching the regulations across many different mechanical layouts.
So a mid-engine V10 sportscar can compete on lap time with a front-mounted V8 GT. Hence the GT3 grids being extremely varied, from a Lexus RC F to an Aston Martin Vantage and an Audi R8 or Porsche 911.
In reality, however, while the pack will be close, each track usually sees different cars outperforming others, despite the constant BoP tweaking. Which is how we’ve ended up here with this video, as if you want to get that extra advantage in Assetto Corsa Competizione, you need to know which car suits which track the best.
Some cars are quicker in a straight line, delivering the best lap time on the bigger, more open circuits, while other are more nimble, working well when there more tight corners.
This is a big help especially if you’re racing online in ACC, as you’ll be looking for that extra edge. So, watch our video and see which car best suits each track.
