This Common Starling (Sturnus vulgaris), also known as the European Starling or in the British Isles just the Starling eats out of my hand. These birds can sing great songs and it is a spectacular experience to see them in the wild flock. There are several subspecies of the Common Starling, which vary in size and the color tone of the adult plumage. The gradual variation over geographic range and extensive intergradation means that acceptance of the various subspecies varies between authorities.
