Skopje, North Macedonia – A City Full Of Incredible Surprises!

As we’d had an awesome
As we’d had an awesome time in Bulgaria, we were eager to see more of the Balkans region. We hadn’t been to many countries in the Balkans yet as we had an opportunity we thought, why not!
So, after Bulgaria we made the decision to head on over to Skopje, North Macedonia.
We had never been to North Macedonia or researched much about it, so we didn’t know what to expect. Yet, we thought heading to the capital city first would seem like a good idea.
After we got there, we found Skopje was full of surprises for us. We were able to stay there for 3 months. And, during that time we could witness the changing of the seasons… including the beautiful snow falls.
Skopje is an interesting city, split in half by the Vardar river. The Stone Bridge, as it is known, connects Macedonia Square to the Old Skopje Bazaar on the other side. Even though you’re in the one city, when you explore both sides of the river… it feels like you’re in completely 2 different towns!
Plus, it was incredible to discover the huge volume of statues Skopje has, for a smaller capital city. And of course, we had to try the delicious cuisine and drinks. Watch our video to see how wonderful Skopje is.
