How to paint a whitetail buck in oil paints wit Suzanne Barrett Justis
Sometimes I am motivated to paint not by the actual subject of the painting, but by the color and contrast , I have been working with several students, recently, on the elements of a good abstract painting. composition, color and contrast must be strong in a good abstract works. The same holds true for ANY good painting. In today's video, I will be applying the elements of a good abstract painting, color, contrast and composition. Watch as i start the painting with a loose vine charcoal sketch and proceed through to blocking in the color and establishing the overall composition with color and contrast. After blocking in, the fun starts with laying in the detail of the buck Playing warm light and cool shadows on the deer is the best part of the painting process for me Finally, I lay in the grass with a sword brush, creating layer upon layer of grass
