How to paint a rosey
How to paint a rosey succulent abstract painting on an abstract background painting with acrylic paint. I painted the background with a deep wine colour , light magenta and pale pink acrylic paint and a filbert paintbrush. I layered each colour, overlapping the brushstrokes and filling the canvas completely. I let the paint dry before shading and highlighting the rose succulent design. I used a Posca paint marker to draw the design onto the dry background painting. I shaded the inner part of petals with a mixture of black and wine acrylic paint. I highlighted the outer part of the petals of the rosey succulent with a mixture of light magenta and pale pink acrylic paint. I used an angled shader paintbrush to paint on the shading and highlighting. The succulent design can be drawn on a larger canvas and also be painted in any color with acrylic paint and a script liner paintbrush.
Painting Instructions:
@0:00 Abstract painting with acrylics
@0:02 Paint square canvas
(Paint the canvas with black acrylic paint and allow to dry before continuing.)
@0:07 Add first layer of paint
(Paint the canvas with deep wine acrylic paint using a filbert paintbrush. brush on paint in random places, leaving spaces in between the brushstrokes.)
@0:29 Add second layer of paint
(Paint the canvas with light magenta acrylic paint using a filbert paintbrush. Slightly overlap the first paint colour brushstrokes.)
@1:02 Add third layer of paint
(Paint the canvas with pale pink acrylic paint using a filbert paintbrush. Slightly overlap the first and second paint colours brushstrokes.)
@1:32 Repeat layering
(Fill in the canvas with multiple layers of paint until the canvas is completely covered.)
@3:20 Allow paint to dry.
(before going on to the next step be sure the paint on the canvas is completely dry.)
@3:22 Draw on design
(When the canvas is dry, draw on the succulent design with a black Posca paint marker.)
@4:20 Mix paint
(mix deep wine acrylic paint with a tad of black acrylic paint to darken the paint colour. Add a bit of water to the mixture to thin it out.)
@4:36 Paint shading
(Paint shading onto the inner part of each petal with an angled shader paintbrush. Dip the longer tip of the paintbrush into the paint. Work paint into the paintbrush by brushing it onto a paint palette.)
@8:10 Mix paint
(mix light magenta acrylic paint with pale pink acrylic paint. Add a bit of water to the mixture to thin it out.)
@8:18 Paint highlighting
(Paint highlighting onto the outer part of each petal with an angled shader paintbrush. Dip the longer tip of the paintbrush into the paint. Work paint into the paintbrush by brushing it onto a paint palette.)
