مندوں کے مال میں ایک حق قرار دیا ہے اور فقراء کو ان کے مال میں شریک بنایا ہے.
کوئی دولت مند جب تک وہ حق ادا نہ کرے تعریف کے قابل نہیں اور وہ حق زکوۃ ہے.
زکوۃ کے وسیلے سے ان کو زندگی کی ضمانت مل جاتی ہے اور اس نشانی سے مسلمان کہلاتا ہے.
اسلام اس اجتماعی موضوع کو اس قدر اہمیت دیتا ہے کہ رسول اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ والہ وسلم نے چند ایسے مسلمانوں کو جو اس اہم کام کو معمولی شمار کرتے تھے اور فقراء کے حقوق ادا نہیں کرتے تھے رسمی طور پر مسجد سے نکال دیا اور فرمایا:
تم لوگ جو زکوۃ نہیں دیتے ہماری مسجد سے باہر چلے جاؤ اور اس میں نماز نہ پڑھو.
It is said in the Holy Qur'an, "Establish prayer and give zakat, because you will be rewarded for what you do."
God Almighty has declared Faqra a right in the wealth of the rich and has made the poor a sharer in their wealth.
A rich person is not worthy of praise until he pays the right and that right is Zakat.
By means of Zakat they get the guarantee of life and by this sign they are called Muslims.
Islam gives so much importance to this collective subject that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) formally expelled some Muslims who considered this important work as trivial and did not pay the rights of the poor from the mosque and said:
You people who do not pay Zakat, go out of our mosque and do not pray in it.
