Welcome to Episode #25 TIPS FOR KNITTING IN WARM WEATHER - SUMMER 2024 Welcome to TACISTUDIO. I am Taci and I am so happy you are here. In this episode I will be talking about some tips to help you keeping Knititng and crocheting during the summer. Where you can find me: Instagram: www.instagram.com/tacistudio/?hl=en Ravelry: www.ravelry.com/people/taciravelry Follow the link to TaciStudio for the free download to my very first pattern - The Marble Bulky Hat www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/marble-bulky-hat-… Etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/TACIStudio Summer knitting and crocheting can be just as fun as in the winter we just have to change the fivers we work with. When temps go up COTTON seems to be the most popular fiber to knit and crochet with. Cotton is lightweight and breathable which makes it perfect for using when temps are up. But linen, viscose and silk are also great choices. LINEN is another very popular fiber for the summer because of its durability, breathability and lightweight. Linen is very elegant and can add a touch of sophistication. SILK is also very popular (although it can be a bit more expensive). It is very soft and easy to work with. I will still use WOOL to make small projects such as hats and socks. The most common brands that make summer fibers usually come in a blend. Each of these fibers have their unique qualities giving us endless possibilities for creativity. Knititng and crochet can be more difficult in the when knitters and crocheters are trying to knit in hot weather such as yarn sticking to sweaty hands or having to work with heavy wool. However, with the great variety of lightweight yarn options like cotton or linen that are more suitable for warm weather projects we can continue to knot and crochet yearn round. My Favorite Summer Yarns: RITUAL DYES - UNDINE COTTON/LINNEN fingering organic 60 % cotton (from Peru)- 40% linen6(from Belgium) - 100 gr = 383 yrds/350 m KNITTING FOR OLIVE - 100 % SILK EDDIE BEUER - 100% ORGANIC COTTON KNIT PICKS COTTON AND LINEN YARNS: COTLIN 70% Tanguis cotton /30% linen DK - 50 gr skein = 123 years $5.29 TYNN LINE by SANDNESS GARN 53% COTTON, 33% VISCOSE, 14% linen 50 gr is about 220 meters/240 yards Sirdar Snugly 50% cotton, 50 % acrylic Machine washable WE ARE KNITTERS - The Cotton DK weight 10% Pima cotton DROPS BELLE -Cotton, Linen, Viscose mix. HOWEVER, IF YOU LIKE TO KNIT WITH WOOL SMALL PROJECTS LIKE SOCKS, HATS AND SMALL SHAWLS AND SCARVES ARE ALSO A GREAT OPTION Making small adjustments and using techniques for warm weather knitting, such as using circular needles to avoid the weight of a large project on your lap and using plant fibers can be so very helpful. USING METAL NEEDLES MAY HELP WITH THE YARN SLIDING BETTER ON YOUR NEEDLES I encourage you to try out summer knitting and crochet projects and share your experiences in the comments section. And don't forget to check out my other videos for more crafting updates and inspiration. Thanks for joining me on this journey. I hope you enjoyed this episode. Till next time, keep Knititng, crocheting, crafting and making what makes you happy. Tchau "ciao" (the Brazilian way to say goodbye)
