A guide featuring information on levels 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 for a Open Hand Monk 6 / Thief 3 / Battlemaster Fighter 3 build, the focus is to become a psychic assassin who can get through the defenses of any enemy (not much resists Psychic), while dealing over 300 damage a round. Following is a summary of how to go about building from the start -

Starting Stats:
Str 8
Dex 16
Con 17
Int 8
Wis 15
Cha 8

Feats:
Tavern Brawler (+1 Con)

Spoiler Hair:
Unnecessary (+1 Wis if you got it)

As with many good builds, the basis of this build is simple. You start by leveling up Open Hand Monk to 6, you then follow that with Thief 3, then you take Battlemaster Fighter 3. You only get 1 Feat in this build, but it is Tavern Brawler on a Monk, so that is literally all you need! Because you are both a Battlemaster, and a Monk, all your Ki Points as well as Maneuvers refresh on Short Rest!

You will not be actively using the Shadow Blade until around lvl 8-9, when you obtain the Resonance Stone from the Illithid Colony. Up until then, play as a pretty standard Open Hand Monk, but once you have the Stone you are able to do 60-70+ Psychic damage per hit with your weapon. With Action Surge, you can hit this 4 times, as well as do potentially 3 flurries, for a max damage once you have all your gear of around ~550-600 damage in a single round.

With the combination of Topple Prone from Flurry and Menacing Attack Frighten, you are able to permanently CC any single monster, or a couple of them if you are lucky, and again, all the while doing a very high amount of damage. Prone says you need to spend half your movement to stand, and Frighten reduces your movement speed to 0!

The gear is outlined in the video, but I wanted to throw out an Honorable Mention for Braindrain Gloves, I used these between lvl 9 and lvl 12, up until I got the final gloves we use. Braindrain offers a LOT of mental save debuff, 2 per hit, and with the Disadvantage on Mental Saves from Resonance Stone, you are BASICALLY assured any mental save targeting spell or ability will hit.

Bonus for reading to the end:
If you take the Illithid Powers Mind Blast and Cull the Weak, they also both benefit from Resonance Stone. I generally don't like to recommend Illithid powers in my builds, but if you are going to take any, this one and the auto-crit are for you. ;)

Let me know in the comments what you liked/disliked about the video, and what you would like to see for builds in the future! Here are a few others I have already made and considered making videos for if you don't have any thoughts!
Clown Hammer 40k
Way of the Sneaky Snake
The Heal of Lers
The Pious Ascetic
The Steel Bear

Each can do hundreds of damage a round, apply crazy effects, and have fun gimmicks all their own!
