As night falls in Seoul,
As night falls in Seoul, locals pass through Sindaebang station, some after long hours of work and others taking a brief break. Where do these people go?
Beneath the railroad overpass at Sindaebang station, small but cozy Pojang Machas are lined up, ready to serve those seeking a moment of respite. These traditionally-styled street food vendors, with plastic tables and red chairs, have become a staple of Korea's image. Unfortunately, they are slowly disappearing from Seoul's streets. On my recent visit to Sindaebang station, I rediscovered my love for these vendors and the 'romantic' atmosphere they create, surrounded by the neon lights of their signs, the sounds of the subway, and people walking by in the hundreds.

서울에 어두움이 내리고 신대방역에는 많은 사람들이 지나갑니다. 이들 중 어떤 이들은 하루종일 업무를 마치고 퇴근하는 길 잠시 어딘가에 들러 휴식을 취하고 싶어해요. 어디일까요?
신대방역 철교 아래에는 작지만 아늑한 포장마차들이 늘어서 있어 퇴근길 잠시 쉬어가려는 사람들에게 맛있는 음식을 판배합니다. 플라스틱 테이블과 빨간 의자가 있는 독특한 스타일의 길거리 음식 사장님들은 한국 이미지의 대표적인 이미지가 되었어요. 불행하게도, 포장마차들은 점차 서울의 거리에서 서서히 사라지고 있다고 하네요. 최근 신대방역을 방문했을 때, 이 포차들의 네온 불빛, 지하철 소리, 사장님들의 정 등을 경험하며 다시 한번 제가 사랑에 빠졌던 그 '로멘틱'한 분위기에 흠뻑 젖었습니다.
