Here my mom teaches you how to crochet on the top of a standard dish towel so that it will hang in your kitchen! Here are the instructions if you need them! Items you will need 1 Standard Dish Towel, they are usually 15 by 30 in A quarter of a skein of acrylic washable yarn 1 crochet hook size h 1 crochet hook size J yarn needle pointy scissors 1 one-inch button with a shank A Needle and thread—to sew the button on 6 straight pins 1. Fold the dishtowel in half, but make the side you will be making the front slightly longer. 2. Two inches from the top of the fold, use the straight pins to keep the two sides of the towel together. 3. A half inch from the top of the fold, use your scissors and poke holes across the top of the towel. The holes should be roughly an inch a part. 15-18 holes in total. 4. Take your yarn and make a slip knot on the end using the size h crochet hook. 5. Make a single crochet in the first hole. Then make a chain of two, then a single crochet in the second hole. Repeat this pattern for the first row. 6. To make the second row, crochet two up and turn the towel around. 7. For the second row, single crochet in the two chain stitches from the previous row. Continue this pattern across the row. 8. At the end of the second row, chain two up, and turn the towel around 9. For the third row, switch crochet hooks to the size j hook. Then, triple crochet in each single crochet from the previous row for the whole row. 10. At the end of the third row and the rest of the rows, the stitches will decrease to create the smooth angled edge. To create this edge, skip the second to last stitch for each row. Instead, make a triple crochet in the chain from the previous row. Then chain two and turn the towel. 11. Continue this pattern, decreasing the number of stitches each row by skipping the second to last stitch and instead making a triple crochet in the chain from the previous row. After each row, chain two up, and turn the towel. 12. When a row only has eight stitches, chain two up and make three triple crochet. Then chain two up and make three triple crochets to the end of that row. Chain two up and turn the towel. 13. Then make 2 triple crochets. Make two more triple crochets in the space of the previous row. Make two final triple crochets and a chain stitch. (6 triple crochets in total.) 14. Cut the yarn about 6 inches from the end of the work. 15. Use the yarn needle to hide the two tails. 16. Sew the button in the center of where the crochet and towel meet.
