Verizon has BRAND NEW prepaid plans to choose from… they differ slightly from the previous plans… and have one HUGE improvement in the form of loyalty discounts. https://www.whistleout.com/CellPhones...

Now there isn’t really a huge difference between prepaid and postpaid plans anymore… back in the day there were some legitimate reasons to choose one over the other… now it’s just a matter of when you want to pay your bill and oftentimes with prepaid plans your bill will be lower than with postpaid flagship plans.

So what are the prices with Verizon Prepaid? They start at $35 and go up to $65. The cheaper the plan, the less you get when it comes to perks and data… the more expensive the plan, the more you get! That’s pretty typical with all carriers.. What’s NOT typical is loyalty discounts Verizon is offering… here’s a quick look:

On top of a $5/month autopay discount, you can get an additional $5 off per month after 3 months of service, and another $5 off per month after 9 months of service. In total that’s a $15/month discount and you’d potentially get an unlimited plan for only $50. That’s a GREAT DEAL. And if you’re an existing customer, guess what!?! You can switch to one of these plans and depending on how long you’ve been with verizon you can switch and get this loyalty discount automatically. There we go Verizon! Giving current customers a snazzy little deal. I dig. The only caveat with this loyalty discount?? It only applies to plans that are $40/month or more… and lastly it seems as if the loyalty discount replaces a multi line discount… though the savings comes out to about the same only you don’t need multiple lines to benefit!

$35/$30 prepaid smartphone plan
- No high-speed data
- Unlimited 2G data
- Unlimited talk and text
- Unlimited calling to Puerto Rico, Guam, NMI, US Virgin Islands
You can find cheaper plans from other carriers that offer just talk and text… BUT if you’re in a city or town where the only cell coverage is from Verizon, this is a great plan for you if you utilize wifi often or don’t need data. One thing to note: this plan doesn’t come with the loyalty discount.

$40/$35 prepaid smartphone plan
- 5GB high-speed data
- Then slowed to 2G speeds no overages
- Hotspot included (uses allotted high-speed data)
- Unlimited talk and text
- Unlimited calling to Puerto Rico, Guam, NMI, US Virgin Islands
Similar to the previous plan, you can find cheaper 5GB plans from other carriers, BUT honestly this is a great deal. For only $5 more per month, you get 5GB of data on American’s largest network. It’s a great plan for someone who doesn’t need a lot of data, but likes to have some for simple tasks like maps, scrolling social media, and reading or sending emails. And with that loyalty discount you could be paying only $25/month for 5GB of data and unlimited talk and text.

$50/$45 prepaid smartphone plan
- 15GB high-speed data
- Then slowed to 2G speeds
- Hotspot use allowed (uses allotted high-speed data)
- Free unlimited calls to Canada and Mexico.
With the previous plans, you - -have to buy a $5/month add-on to get calling to Canada and Mexico. This plan is decent, but you can get similar plans for cheaper prices from other carriers. One reason you MIGHT want to stick with this plan is that you get free calling to Canada and Mexico. That’s one perk you generally won’t find with budget carriers.

$65/$60 Prepaid unlimited smartphone plan
- Unlimited data (may be slowed when the network is congested/crowded)
- Unlimited talk/text
- Free calling to Canada and Mexico
- Can use data out of the country but speeds will slow to 2G after .5GB of high-speed use
- Can add 10GB hotspot for $5/month
oOne downside to this plan is that you have to pay to add the hotspot… but you do get 10GB of data and then unlimited hotspot use at slower speeds.

The last plan I'm going over is the $65/month prepaid plan.
- You get unlimited high-speed data, though your speeds may be slowed occasionally when the network is congested.
- Llimited amount of data to use abroad before it’s slowed, that’s perfect for pulling up maps in a pinch. And let’s factor in that loyalty discount… at month 10 you’d only be paying $50/month for the basic plan or $55 with the hotspot add-on which in my opinion you should do.
This plan is perfect for anyone who wants to be on Verizon’s network but doesn’t want to pay for the higher priced postpaid plans which start at $70/month! You don’t get the postpaid perks, but you get to keep more money in your pocket!

What do you think of Verizon’s prepaid plans?? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for watching WhistleOut TV I’m Sherri Riggs.
