The old recipe for quick pizza on slices of bread is what made many children grow up in the 80's and 90's. Simple, made with whatever you can find in the fridge, this pizza is ready in just 10-15 minutes, it's nutritious and very tasty.
Basically, with this recipe you have the top ready, you don't need to wait for a classic pizza top to rise. You can go straight to the topping, and here only your fridge is the limit.
Basically, anything is allowed on a quick pizza with slices of bread: the sausages you like, the cheeses you have on hand, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, corn or whatever vegetables you have in the fridge.

📌 Ingredients

10 slices of bread (not very fresh)
1 egg
200 ml of milk
150 g pasta sauce (or pureed tomatoes, thick tomato juice, etc.)
300 g cold cuts of your choice: salami, ham, cabanos, etc. (I had summer salami)
vegetables of your choice: mushrooms, bell peppers, corn, onions, olives, cherry tomatoes, etc. (I put: ½ pepper, 60 g olives, 70 g mushrooms)
250 g mozzarella (or cheese)
oregano, salt, pepper - to taste
30 g butter for greasing the pan (or olive oil)
fresh basil for decoration
ketchup for serving - optional

🔪 Preparation

Cut into strips or cubes all the ingredients, slice the bread.
Grease the tray with butter, with olive oil or if you want, put baking paper.
Put 1 egg and milk in a bowl. Mix a little with a fork, then pass the bread slices through this mixture and place them in the oven tray. Dip the bread for just one second on each side, no more!
Spread tomato sauce on each slice of bread, then place the salami and vegetables.
Grate the mozzarella (or cheese) and spread it over the slices of bread. If using mushrooms, place them on top of the cheese.
Put the tray in the oven preheated to 220 degrees (high setting for gas ovens) for 10-15 minutes. When the cheese has melted and the pizza has lightly browned around the edges, it's ready!
Serve the pizza immediately, plain or with ketchup. If there is any left over, it can be reheated in the microwave.
