In this new InDesign tutorial series I show you how to produce great academic posters for science conferences. In this introductory video I discuss som key points that you should consider before you start designing in InDesign.
- Know your audience and adjust your language / poster style accordingly
- Know the poster size and orientation that is allowed on the conference you're attending
- Make a draft on paper! Having a draft layout and an idea what should go on the poster will save you time in the long run.
- Keep it to 300 words! Don't have a wall of text. No one will red that ; ) Remember that posters should be visual appealing, so have flowcharts, figures and diagrams!
- Don't obsess over details at this point. Get everything you want to have on the poster into indesign first. once the rough layout is done you can see if it works and then take care of all the details (alignment, font size etc.)
