The Osaka metropolitan area is the second largest metropolitan area in Japan, it's second only to Greater Tokyo Area. And the core city of Kansai region. The Osaka Metro currently has 8 routes and 1 people mover line. Among them, the earliest one to start operations was the Midōsuji Line (御堂筋線), which started operations in 1933.
