Tuba Skinny at Temple Beth Israel of Highland Park and Eagle Rock, Los Angeles, CA, Sunday 27 Oct 2019 "It's So Good" Pops Coffee informs me: "'It's so good' was recorded for the Okeh Company in December 1930 by Charlie McCoy - apparently in the key of E (though this may be the distorting effect of recording processes at the time). Tuba Skinny sensibly play it in E flat, much easier for a traditional jazz band. The tune is an uncomplicated three-chorder: an opening eight bars (Verse) that are virtually identical to the first eight bars of 'West Indies Blues', followed by the 16-bar 'Chorus' in which there is space for a 'break' on the Eb chord in bars 7 and 8. You can hear Shaye hover on a lovely bluesy flattened high G flat (1 min 04 secs) when it's her turn to take the two-bar break." Thanks Pops!
