We can show money amounts that are greater than one dollar by writing a $, the number of dollars to the left of the decimal point, and the number of cents to the right of the decimal point.  We show how to read amounts greater than $1 by saying "and" for the decimal point. When there are no dollars, we can write $0, a decimal point, and the number of cents.   We count collections of coins to find the total value.  We circle the money that makes a dollar, then write the total value of the money shown. We solve a word problem that involves higher order thinking skills to finding fewer than 8 coins that will equal a given amount. We show a half-dollar as 50 cents with President John F. Kennedy on the front.
