By: Cynthia LeeLocal archaeologists believe they have found where the Spanish originally settled and it's only one mile from the Alamo.The report was released today.It's behind the Christopher Columbus Society in downtown.Archaeologists discovered artifacts dating back to 1718 that had over time slowly eroded to the surface.They made the discovery while helping with the Little Italy project.The city archaeologist says archival records show Mission San Antonio de Valero (now known as the Alamo) had three different locations before settling on its current location in Alamo Plaza.The original location is now believed to be at the Christopher Columbus Society.The second location near La Villita.More excavating is still needed to fully confirm findings.MEANTIME ---Frank Monaco with the Christopher Columbus Society and architect Roberto
Trevino are currently working on creating an Italian Village in
downtown San Antonio. It`s going to be located at the Christopher
Columbus Society which is now possibly also home to the original Mission
San Antonio de Valero.Christopher Columbus Society is hosting
its first ever Christmas tree lighting in Piazza di Colombo Park on
Saturday, November 30th at 6:30pm. Refreshments to follow. The event is
