The legendary Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series commercial vehicle range has chalked up 70 years of service and, to celebrate, Toyota Australia has released 600 examples of a limited 70th Anniversary edition.

Of the 200 special 79 Series single-cab utes imported to Australia, only a handful remain – despite the huge $80K-plus price tag, the same basic design dating back to 1984 and a major 70 Series upgrade coming in 2022.

We sent Sam Charlwood to see if the steak matches the sizzle surrounding the enduring Japanese workhorse.
