Kiental, GRIESALP Hiking, steepest Postbus road.

The Kiental valley is northeast of the Kandertal , to which it runs roughly parallel. The Chiene  River  (also Kiene) is an approximately 9 km long right tributary of the Kander in the municipality of Reichenbach im Kandertal in the Swiss canton of Bern . It flows through the Kiental in the Bernese Oberland , draining an area of around 90 square kilometers. flows through it.
In 1972, a lake was dammed on the Tschingelalp after a storm. The newly formed Tschingelsee is now silting up again . It has been under nature protection since 1987.

The Griesalp is the terminus of the steepest post bus line in Europe  coming from Reichenbach (28% in the Pochten Gorge). On the last two thousand meters, the postbuses on route 220 overcome two hundred meters of altitude and 20 hairpin bends, at the narrowest bottleneck the road leads through a 2.20 meter wide gap in the rocks.
