Painting glass can be tricky
Painting glass can be tricky but the secret is to just match the colors as you see them. In this video, I match the blue background color as it appears through the glass bottle. In part 2, which I will publish tomorrow, I match the part of the bottle that is the color of the wood table.
The strategy for painting glass bottles or transparent bottles is to draw the abstract shapes that make up the reflections and then match the colors of those shapes. Quinacridone Magenta
Pyrrole Red
Ultramarine Blue
Phthalo Blue
Hansa Yellow Opaque

PALETTE
The plastic palette that I use the Mijello Fredi Weber peel off palette. It’s made from a type of plastic that acrylic paint doesn’t stick to. You can peel off thick layers, thinner layers can be scrubbed off with a rag and warm water. It’s much easier to clean than a wood palette or any other type of plastic

I use the peel off palette with Golden OPEN acrylics and I clean them off while they’re still wet. I store the entire palette inside of a Masterson sta-wet palette without the sponge. The seal on the lid is really good because the paints stay wet for weeks!

I’ve been using the palette knives from Liquitex. This set of 6 is inexpensive and they work well. I purchased them in 2018 and they’re still in good shape.
