The Channel Tunnel Nearly wasn't built

The Channel Tunnel was a big engineering challenge and the big impact of on transport between the United Kingdom and France.

The idea of connecting Britain and France beneath the English Channel dates back centuries.

With up to 62 crossings running per day, with 20 million travelers annually boarded the Eurostar to travel to Europe, the line and tronnal is on vital part of the European transport network.
