"How are you doing?" -is
"How are you doing?" -is one of the most popular questions in any language in the world. In Finnish this phrase can be said in different ways. Let's look at some of them.
🟥 "Mitä kuuluu?" or "Mitä sinulle kuuluu?" -literally translated as "What do you hear?" or "What do you hear?"
The verb used here is kuulua (there is an error in the video), which translates to hear/hear something. The interlocutor literally asks what new things you have heard.
🟥 "Miten menee?" -literally "How are you going?" The phrase has the verb "mennä" - to walk. You are being asked how you are moving or how things are going.
🟥"Kuinka voit?" - "How are you doing?"/"How is it?". The verb voida is to be able/to be able.
This is how the interlocutor asks you how you are feeling.
🟥You can also say "Kuinka menee? Miten voit?". In the end, all phrases mean one thing: "How are you?"
