The 3 o'clock prayer, also known as the "Three O'Clock Prayer," is a specific moment of daily prayer that is observed at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. It is a reminder of the hour when Jesus died on the cross and is considered the "Hour of Great Mercy." During this time, believers pause to reflect on the Passion of Christ and to seek God's mercy for themselves and the whole world. The prayer often includes reciting the Divine Mercy prayers or other devotional prayers associated with the Divine Mercy.

The 3 o'clock prayer with the Divine Mercy originated from the visions experienced by Saint Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun and mystic in the 20th century. According to her diary, on September 13, 1935, she received a vision of an angel sent to destroy a city. In response, Sister Faustina began to pray for God's mercy on the world. She recorded in her diary that during this time, Jesus appeared to her and asked her to pray the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and to promote this devotion to others.

Jesus specifically instructed Sister Faustina to pray the Chaplet at three o'clock each afternoon, which is known as the "Hour of Great Mercy." This hour holds special significance as it recalls the time of Christ's death on the cross. According to Sister Faustina's diary, Jesus said that at three o'clock, the gates of Heaven open wide, and He pours out His mercy upon those who seek it.

THE 3 O' CLOCK PRAYER

The Hour of Great Mercy

At this moment, our Lord Jesus Christ, died on the cross and redeemed the world.

Let us all together pray the 3 O'clock Prayer.

In the Name of the Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.

You died Jesus, but the source of life flowed out for the souls and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world.
O Fountain of Life, immeasurable Divine Mercy
Cover the whole world and empty yourself out upon us.
O Blood and Water which flowed out from the heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us, I trust in You.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world

Amen.

Jesus, King of Mercy, we trust in You!
