High Velocity Classics is proud to offer for sale this ONE OF A KIND, totally Custom made 1941 Willy's Pickup. Inspired by his passion for the 1940's classic Street Rod era look that could be used as a daily driver, this Arizona owner designed his dream truck with longevity, durability and fuel economy in mind. This stunning, well thought out, 3+ year long project, spared no expence or attention to detail.

It took approximately $38K in parts (receipts available) & $50K in labor to build a One of a Kind Classic of this caliber. It all started with a Custom Made Tubular Steel Chassis, a 9 inch stretched Fiberglass Cab (stretched to make the doors fit and close properly), Fiberglass Fenders and a Steel Bed. The hood was sectioned in 3 to fit flush with the modified cowl and the custom fabricated hinges (see pics). The owner was recently quoted as stateing: Unlike the rest of the world, there are no small trucks with diesel power available in this country. So, this truck was built to be what you can not buy - "A daily driver with diesel power and 45 - 50 MPG".

There is 3+ years of work in the truck including a lot of fiberglass work to clean up the cab and make the doors fit and close properly, building a custom frame, rebuilding the engine, adapting the engine to the trans, and fabricating too many odds & ends to count (take a look at the hood hignes). An inter cooler for the turbo was not installed in the truck in the name of FUEL ECONOMY - a hot intake charge = more MPG. For those who like power, all you have to do is turn a screw on the injection pump, but an intercoller would help.

The pump can support up to 300 HP - but if you make a lot of power, you will get black smoke. The truck has been used in the Phoenix area for a couple of years and now has about 3500 miles on it. It is not a show truck or a Street Rod and has the character and feel of an old truck. A 3.08 rear axle ratio was selected based on previous experence with diesels. This gives 1600 - 1700 RPM @ 70 MPH, however this engine seems to like a higher RPM. The engine can pull it fine at the lower RPM, but the exhaust temps are around 1200 degrees - a little high for continuous use. It would be a better truck with a 3.73 or 4.11 rear axle ratio or just leave it in 4th gear.

Has a clean original Arizona 1941 Willy's Title and a reproduction Vin plate riveted into the Firewall. We encourage you to call or email any questions and or comments you may have. The car is located in the Phoenix Arizona area, so shipping or pickup will be from there.
