This is Crystal, the chick who portrays Chibi Neko. A year has gone by and I think it's now time to provide a full explanation of this video. It is very unfortunate that one is needed, but recent comment behavior seems to call for one.
For many years, I have noticed the gamer fanbase has taken a downward spiral, for some reason people take their favorite video game or character and treat it as something sacred, and expect everyone else to comply. The line between entertainment and reality has become blurred, for these games are intended to entertain us, but that enjoyment is increasing being ruined by the fans, who are making demands of non-fans or critics.
The fact of the matter is I am a fan of Final Fantasy myself, I played most of the games, and I know the details of the characters backgrounds. I am also very familiar with the Japanese culture, and the gaming industry. But many of these facts do not seem to matter, for the fans are blinded by their need to tell people to 'like it or else'
I found it interesting how people are relating the desecration of a game/character -- to the desecration of themselves, there is no reason for a person to be offended by the desecration of a game/character so long as they enjoy what it represents, no negative comment or review should change that.
Gamers are becoming too serious with their hobby, to them, games are no longer meant to be enjoyed, they have been warped into forming a culture that everyone should submit to. Even a professional reviewer will be attacked if he or she does not provide the score that the fan desires. This was recently proven when a reviewer did not give GTA5 a perfect score, the fans made a petition to have her fired.
So I decided to tackle it. Make fun of these fans in the same manner the fans look down on everyone else. There are tons of top lists... so I decided on doing a despised list... something on the negative for a change, and I chose 'Final Fantasy' as the topic, because it's fanbase is amongst the most aggressive and easy to offend. Despite being a fan myself.. I want to disassociate myself from these types of gamers, showing that I can openly mock the things I enjoy... and still live another day.
I picked on the characters that people tend to love the most, while I don't actually 'like' the characters, I do not in fact hate them on the level being portrayed in the video, the exaggeration was intentional to represent the growing negative personality of Final Fantasy fans -- getting unnecessarily angry over criticisms.
This video was released with the full expectation of a negative response, people making claims of which characters are best without any basis... and people yelling that the targeted character is their favorite... assuming it makes the character immune somehow. Even more interesting, despite the title of the video, fans for some reason watched it anyway, knowing that their favorite character has the potential to be picked on.
The comments prove the point that gamers are taking their hobby too seriously, and have the knee-jerk reaction to defend it, even though what they are attempting to defend is not real. Fictional characters are free game for criticisms, love and hate, the characters can't feel it, but somehow fans are displaying a disturbing trait of treating the works of fiction as if it where a real person... this is leading me to believe that these fans are very insecure of themselves and could be using the characters as a means of hiding it. For there is no logical reason to get upset over the praise or bashing of a fictional character, or any entertainment medium for that matter. "To each their own" no longer seems to apply.
It is also easy to identify the hypocrisy on the comments too, many claims of Chibi Neko not knowing anything about the games, characters, or culture, yet the people who make these claims know nothing about Chibi Neko, and cut to their own conclusions without exploring information or other videos about the person, the very thing that they are accusing Chibi Neko of not doing in regards to the characters she picks on.
The bottom line is gaming isn't that fun anymore, and I really do think the fans are playing a role in this. No one can admit to liking or disliking anything or poking fun without having a arched eyebrow looking at them, discussions are no longer carefree, and completing a game is no longer done for fun, but for bragging rights.
"This character is my favorite.. therefore no one has the right to say anything against him/her" starting to sound like a religion if you ask me.

I may as well address this issue seeing as many people are commenting.... I KNOW that the woman in the opening concert in FFX-2 is not Yuna, so any comments regarding Yuna will be deleted.
