Not much sounds better than the Lamborghini Huracan STO's V10 at full sing on the de-restricted German Autobahn! Listen to the sound as it blasts up towards 300km/h (almost 200mph) on the journey to the car's homeland; Italy - with a police check on the way. After a few amazing days in Munich, Germany, our next stop is to get the STO back home and to go to visit the Lamborghini factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese. That means a long journey taking in both the Autobahn and some wonderful twisting roads past the ski slopes in the mountains over to Lake Garda. Supported by the Ferrari GTC4Lusso for transporting the luggage given the non-existent space in the Lambo, it's busy and congested but there are still opportunities to put the foot down and enjoy the sound at full chat. Shortly before leaving Germany, we're pulled in at a petrol station to purchase the vignette toll sticker for Austria, when an unmarked 5 Series Touring pulls in and blocks off the cars, ahead of a fairly unusual check of the cars themselves and documents in a way I've never seen before. However, all is as it should be and on we go for the cruise across the whole of Austria towards Brennero and onwards through Italy. The STO is a very heavily track focused car, which means lots of aero which creates drag at the top end and unusually only has a 310km/h (193mph) top speed, but as we get fairly close to that it feels like it has plenty more propulsion available. Let's see if there's another opportunity to have a go with less traffic and safe conditions, at some point.
