ARCHIVAL NOTE: This collection of tapes provides a rare insight into the final 27 days of the United States of America, from the “Big Mistake” to the dissolution of the national government by President Nolan. Pre-Watershed, thousands of television stations informed and entertained hundreds of millions of Americans. While a few low-power stations continue to operate in Idaho and New Mexico, radio has once again become the primary source for information and entertainment.

It is worth noting that the situation in the former United States has improved significantly since Nolan’s dissolution. Following the Famine of ’84, the population has since rebounded to between 55 and 70 million. Grid power is available in most areas, while rail service was restored thanks to the reintroduction of steam traction. However, the social regression displayed by North Americans continues to baffle psychologists and Watershed researchers alike.

This video is meant to showcase how the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) may have functioned during and after a major nuclear attack, in the context of an alternate reality where Able Archer '83 culminated in such an attack.

This video is part of "The Watershed," an alternate history horror project. For some context and backstory, check out the playlist: The Watershed
